Ulster BOCES Instructional Services invites you to participate
in our Arts in Education Program. Whether your needs require a visiting Artist in the School, Professional Development
in the Arts, or an Arts Specialist, we invite you to contact the Ulster BOCES Arts in Education Co-Service.
Artists in the Schools (Base Service)
Legislation allows BOCES an opportunity to provide arts activities
and services for your students. Districts will receive state aid reim- bursement for a portion of their expenditures
on these programs. We work with a liaison from your district to meet your cultural needs and tailor programs to your specific
populations.
Let us contract professional artists or arts organizations for
workshops, assembly programs, residencies and field trips, inclusive of Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Music, Theater and Dance (click one to see listing of Teaching Artists and Arts in Ed Organizations). Join us in this partnership for a truly
enriching artistic experience!
Have your teachers delve into standards-based workshops
which address interdisciplinary approaches to integrating art into the content areas. Critical analysis and evaluation through
essential questioning and peer review of student work compliment your teachers’ curriculum. Examples are English
and Social Studies through Dramatic Arts, ELA through Movement, and Math through Music. Art can create meaning and focus
for your alternative learners!
Arts High School
We have been working with Ulster Art Teachers and
Teaching Artists to create a program which provides access for Ulster students with demonstrable talent and motivation to
an intensive Arts program as part of their high school experience. Our goal is
to provide students with flexible Arts programming which complements their home school programs, a five credit Arts sequence,
and preparation for entrance into a high level college, institute, or professional training studio. The areas of Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts are included.
We are currently offering periodic intensives and workshops while we work towards the creation of a complete program. Please contact us to find out about our upcoming series.
