Welcome to my class!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Thanks for sending the permission slips back so quickly.

On May 14 at 1:00 at St. Mary we will have May Crowning. St. Joseph will have it at 1:45 on the same day.

If anyone would be interested in a conference before the end of the year, please let me know. We'll set up a date and time.

On May 20 we will have a Field day at St. Mary.

Grandparents Lunch is May 22.

Zoo Day is May 29.

If anyone is interested in helping to put 2 First Grade baskets together to have on the silent auction at both festivals, please let me know. If anyone has an idea for the theme of these baskets, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any help you can give.




Thank you for visiting our First Grade web site.

Our school library is closed now to inventory the books. If your child has any library books at home, please return them as soon as possible. We want to thank all the people who worked in the library and helped us all year.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are gym days.

On Tuesday and Thursday there will be Simple Solutions homework.

On Wednesday we will have a math paper from our math book for homework.

Spelling homework will be on Tuesday and a test will be on Friday.

Religion homework is this Wednesday.

This is the week of May 12-16.

For Religion we will discuss Chapter 28 Sharing Faith in Class and at Home. We will talk about The Holy Family is a model for our families, Baptism makes us members of the Christian Family, and we choose to act in loving ways. Mass is on Wednesday. All are invited. Homework is on Wednesday.

May is the month of Mary. Try to pray to her each day.

In Math we continue to work with addition and subtraction to 12. We will review time and money. Please continue to review addition and subtraction flash cards for speed. Simple Solutions paper will go home on Tuesday and Thursday. A math paper from our math book will go home on Wednesday. We will also work with measurement (inches, feet, and centimeters).

Our reading story this week is Arthur's Pet Business. The theme this week is Responsibility. Little books will come home this coming week.

In Language Arts our skills are long and short i. We will review plot, setting, characters, and sequencing. We will be writing about pets. The children are reminded to proofread their writing to check for capital letters, ending marks and correct spelling. We always encourage correct printing, spacing and neatness.

Our class is praying for some students and adults who are a part of our Calvert Catholic Schools family. They especially need our prayers at this time. If at anytime you have people you would like us to pray for, please let us know. We know that prayer is powerful especially children's prayers.


May 29 is the Field trip to the Toledo Zoo.
