Meet Your Teacher

Mrs. Doepker

Hi, my name is Tina Doepker and I am one of the teachers for Calvert Catholic Schools' preschool program. I am looking forward to providing your 3, 4, or 5 year old with an exciting and fun-filled first school experience. I thought you might like to know a little about my background.

I am originally from Carey, Ohio and have been married for 26 years to my husband Dan. We have three children: Tracy, our daughter, turned 25 and a graduate of OSU ATI, Alex, our first son, is 22 and a graduate of Heidelberg College, and Brady, our youngest, is 19 and a Sophomore at Toledo University.

After graduating in 1979 with a degree in elementary education from Bowling Green State University, I spent my first four years after college as a teacher at Saint Peter School in Upper Sandusky in Grades 1-3. Following the births of my children, I went back to work part-time at the Tiffin YMCA as a fitness instructor and child care worker (1990-99) and as a preschool teacher at the First Lutheran Church (1991-94). I started my full-time teaching position in the St. Joseph Preschool in the Fall of 2000. Besides my elementary education degree and teaching license, I have taken additional classes in Early Childhood Education at Terra Community College. I have Catechist, Basic Level certification from the Diocese of Toledo, First Aid/CPR/AED certification through the National Safety Council, as well as other classes and certifications required by the State of Ohio Department of Education.

While experience and education are important, I believe what really qualifies me to teach preschool is my enthusiasm for helping each child grow in confidence and appreciation for his or her own uniqueness. Whether I'm teaching Catholic values or cutting and pasting skills, I love watching kids learn and grow. I can't imagine anything more rewarding than being a part of a child's early learning experiences. Famous TV personality Art Linkletter used to say, "Kids say the darndest things." He was right, and they also do the darndest things, which makes every day of preschool a new experience--often challenging, but never dull.
