THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN ALL YEAR ROUND:
* Review the alphabet, both upper case and lower case letters. IT IS EXTREMELY
IMPORTANT THAT YOUR CHILD BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEN UPPER AND LOWER CASE LETTERS!
* Count with them every day. Right now we can count up to 20. By the end of hte
year, we WILL be able to count to 100 by ones and tens.
* Be able to recognize numbers (numerals) up to 20.
* Every child should know the basic colors (red, blue, green, yellow, orange,
black, brown, purple).
* Please go over their shapes to reinforce what they've already learned at school.
* Please allow your child to practice printing his or her name, first and last
name, using upper and lower case letters (EXAMPLE: Jimmy Smith. Notice the name BEGINS with a capital letter,
but the rest of the letters are lower case). Please use primary lined paper if at all possible. We will also be writing
our names EVERY DAY.
* GET YOUR CHILD A PAIR OF SAFETY SCISSORS FOR HOME AND ALLOW HIM OR HER TO
USE THOSE SCISSORS.
* As yoiur child prepares for Kindergarten, careful coloring is emphasized. This
means your child must color neatly (even strokes) INSIDE THE LINES.
