This is my 21st year of teaching.
My how time flies when you are having fun. I have been a part of New Boston ISD as a student and a teacher
and I am a Lion through and through. I began my illustrious career at Crestiview as a 3rd grade teacher.
I was there for 13 years. My third graders are now Juniors, and Seniors. I decided I was ready for
a change and made a move to the middle school to teach 6th grade science. Those same Juniors, and Seniors were
in my classes. Four years later I was asked to take over the art department which was a thrill because I have always
wanted to teach art.
I am a graduate of New Boston High School. I
attended the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) for two years. I came back home to attend Texarkana Collage
and graduate from East Texas State University at Texarkana (now known as Texas A&M Texarkana). I have a degree in
elementary education with a secondary degree in art.
I took my first art lessons when I was 11 years old and have
always found drawing as a way of expressing myself. I think I am much better at drawing than writing. Drawing
also helps me take my mind off my troubles and helps me to relax.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. We
met in kindergarten and graduated together from NBHS. I have four children. Sara graduated from NBHS in 2004. Laura
and Brandon are at the high school and Haydon is here at the middle school. I have two grandchildren. Alan
is five and Thomas was born in Nov. 2005.
My favorite professional baseball team is the Texas
Rangers. My favorite collage is Texas A&M. I am an Aggie.
I have read all the Little House on the Prairie
books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Harry Potter series, and alot of the the American Girl books.
I like to listen to Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kenny Rogers, and just about anyone on KKYR or CMT.
Some of my favorite movies are Grease, Pirates of the Carribean, Gone
with the Wind, and Star Wars (the original trilogy).
