Barry Alumni Association Scholarship must be postmarked May 7th.  Application available outside my office.

LEWMAR and LEWMAR with the support of Lewis Seeds:  Application available outside of office.  Due to me May 11th.

Frances L. Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund (this one is not in the packet) This is due April 30th.  This application has a mandatory appointment with the Pike County Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials office.  Please see me for details.

Illinois Elks Children's Care Corporation Scholarships:  Students currently enrolled in/or planning on entering the physical or occupational therapy fields.  This is an open scholarship program.  $1000.  Schalarships are due IN MY OFFICE BY MARCH 10, 2009.  Pick your application up in my office.

Fish Family Scholarship Program-- $1000/semester (renewable up to 8 semesters with a maintained 2.5 GPA)  Online application only. www.theellisfoundation.org (password: whil09).  Eligiblity: 2.5 GPA or better; single parent home; financial need; and Western High School senior.  Deadline: Feb. 20th, 2009

Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association Education Foundation-- $500-$2000  Illinois student enrolled in a certificate or degree program in an accredited trade school, 2-year junior college or 4-year college or university. May reapply up to 4 years.  Must be able to substantiate your intent to pursue a degree in lumber and builing material or an allied field.

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award Program (got milk? mustache ads)-- 25 $7500 scholarships awarded nationally to student athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyles.  Applications and official rules are available online at www.sammy.bodybymilk.com until March 6, 2009.

National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) Scott/St. Louis Chapter scholarship-- 4 $2000- $2500 scholarships.  Please see me for an application.  Deadline:  March 1, 2009.

Cargill Community Scholarship Program for 2008-2009-- $1000 scholarships to 350 high school seniors in US living in Cargill communities.  Students selected on academic achievement and leadership in extracurricular and civic activities.  Application available online at www.cargill.com, keyword: scholarship.  In order to finalize this application, each applicant must have the signature of a Cargill employee.  The facility location:  Cargill AgHorizons, 814 W. Illinois Electric Cooperatives Scholarship.  This was provided in the scholarship packets.  If you need an application, please see me.  There will be 7 scholarships worth $1250.  Due:  January 1, 2009.  You must be a Rural Electric customer.

Sam Walton Community Scholarship is available online at http://walmartstores.com/CommunityGiving/8732.aspx.   Applications are available until January 31st.  If anyone has parents who are employees of Wal-Mart there are other scholarships available at this site.

Morrison Intitute of Technology in Morrison Illinois is offering a $500-$1000 scholarship for a student attending the two-year College specializing in engineering technology.  Three major areas of concentration are: Design Drafting CAD, Building & Highway Construction & Surveying, and System & Networking Administration.  See me if you are interested.

IEA-NEA Education Scholarship application is now available.  This program is open to all children/legal wards of current IEA-NEA members.  All children/legal wards of deceased, divorced, or IEA-Retired members are eligible to apply regardless of chil's age of marital status.  This is for those who plan to pursue a career in teaching.  Deadline:  November 26, 2008.  See me for an application.

Coca-Cola has a scholarship available to high school seniors who are not employed nor family members by the company.  This is a national scholarship with many being rewarded.  Apply online. Horatio Alger Scholarship:  Online scholarship available to students in critical financial need, pursuing a bachelor's degree, and minimum grade point average of 2.0.  Deadline October 30, 2008.  www.horatioalger.org/scholarships

16 &17 yr, olds wanting to learn to ride motorcycles:  SIUC is providing a basic riding skills class to you (motorcycles and helmets included) for a $20 deposit.  Those who successfully complete the the BRC will be issued a completion card for Ilinois Cycle Rider Safety Training Program and will enable 16 & 17 tr. olds to apply for an M classification on tier driver license.  The classes will take place on a  Fri. 6-9:30pm, Sat. and Sun. 8am-6pm.  Registration will begin in the beginning of March, and fill up fast.
