Welcome to my class!

Be sure you stop by here often to find some current information on what's happening in class.  Use the site map above to find your assignments for the week, copies of handouts, and some helpful websites or homework hints.

When you come to class, I expect you to have your science notebook, a pen or pencil, and your planner.  If you do not have your planner, I will not sign a pass for you.  On the days you need your textbook, I will warn you the previous day and put up a sign.

In the News

From CNN.com:  Indiana Jones managed to retrieve the trinket he was after in the opening moments of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." He pretty much wrecked everything else in the ancient South American temple where the little gold idol had rested for millennia.  While archaeologists understand that the movies are entertainment, they can't help but cringe while watching him destroy priceless artifacts in his attempts to save them.  Co-star Karen Allen says, "It wouldn't be quite as much fun if you followed protocol, I think."  It takes a lot of hard work to make discoveries, but not in the same way as the movie.

Meet the Challenge!

Once a week, I will put a brain teaser, scientist of the week, or a fun puzzle for you.  The first person to tell me the answer will have his or her name posted here.  Even if you're not first, answer five of them each quarter for extra credit!

Solve the puzzle:

Nine dots are arranged in a three by three square. Connect each of the nine dots using only four straight lines and without lifting your pen from the paper.

This week's winner:
Keep watching for the answer!

Last week's answer:  (40) Forty
Last week's winner:  Joy
