Do You Have a Computer That's Sick?

1. Don't panic.

2. Be crazy. Get out your manual and look in the troubleshooting section (usually found in the back of the manual). See if your problem is described. If it is...be courageous and read and follow the directions. You might be surprised what you can do with some patience. (Tip within the tip: Do this when you're alone. It will allow you to concentrate on the directions and you won't feel the pressure of onlookers.)

3. If reading the manual and following the directions doesn't work... breathe deeply. Think of who in your building might be able to help you. Seek them out. Bribe them with a diet softdrink. Sometimes someone with a little more expertise is only a room away.

4. Call tech support or email us at edtech@csiu.org.

5. Wait patiently. With MANY MANY computers to manage, your computer crisis may not be the first in line.

6. Wait patiently. Just like 911, help will arrive.
