Shortly after 12:30 PM, on November 22, 1963 shots rang out in Dallas, Texas. Over the next four days,
the eyes of the world were focused on those events and what followed.
The Task
It has been said that very few events in the 20th century affected more Americans than the assassination of President John
F. Kennedy. Your task is to explain how America changed as a result of those four days in Dallas.
The Process
To accomplish your task:
1) Research the life and assassination of President Kennedy via Web sites, Ebsco, ProQuest, books, vertical files, etc.
2) Interview parents, grandparents, teachers and other adults who were living at the time of the assassination. Possible
questions might include: "Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard President Kennedy had been shot?" "How
did you feel?" "What are your most vivid memories of those four days?" "What changes took place in America and/or your life
because of what happened in Dallas?" How did you feel about the job President Kennedy was doing?
3) Examine what has happened in the United States since November 23, 1963. How did the tradegy in Dallas shape events in
recent U.S. history? Did the assassination of President Kennedy affect you in any way?
