It is hard to believe that it is May already. Interims have gone home for the last time this school year. The weather is
finally getting nicer. This month is very busy so remember to check all notes that come home and check coming events on
the web page.
On Friday the children lead the First Friday Rosary. We continue to learn more about the sacraments. Also, Father Tim has been very faithful at coming in every Friday to share his vast knowledge. At the present we are reading a play in our reading books and hope to present it to the second grade when we are ready. The name of the play is “The Crowded House.” The children have been reading and trying to build up those points for the Accelerated Reader. Many will reach the 25 points goal this year. We continue to work on comprehension. For social studies we have enjoyed Mr. Sullivan teaching the Junior Achievement program. Also, we have learned a great deal about our history from Mrs. Sue Smith. Thank you so much for sending in those historical items. Next week I will meet with the children and ask them to interview a grandparent or older person that they know to find out a little more about how things were. I will ask that this information be written in paragraph form. It will be due on May 19th. I do hope they will enjoy this project and get a chance to spend some special time with their grandparents or a special friend. In math we will spend this month reviewing time, fractions, measurement, and some geometry. Please, keep working on those addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Here is a list of some of the up coming activities. Notes with more information will be sent home on all the field trips. I hope that you will be able to join us on these trips.
