Dear Second Graders and Parents,
It seems hard to believe that this first quarter is nearly over! This week is the final week
of the quarter and grade cards will be sent home Thursday of next week. The students will receive letter grades for
the subjects of Reading, Language Arts, Spelling and Math. All other grades will be +, check+, check, or check-.
It is explained on the grade card. Also, this week you will be receiving a note from the office concerning Parent Conferences,
which will be held during the first week of November. I am looking forward to talking to all of you concerning your
second graders.
Our next Mass planned by our class will be this Wednesday at 8:30. It is the Feast
of St. Teresa of Avila. All the students will have parts in the Mass. Please join us if you can. The children
always enjoy having family members at our school Masses.
The second Reconciliation Meeting is this week on Tuesday at St. Mary's, for those who have
not yet attended. Last week I attended the meeting and thought Fr. Szybka had a wonderful talk, and I especially liked
the way he integrated scripture into his talk.
Our Literacy Night is this Thursday, in conjunction with the Book Fair. Many of the teachers
are involved in this program, so we hope you can come for a little family fun. We have tried to incorporate activities
for all grade levels. There is still time to register - the information sheet went home during the week. Hope
to see you there.
Thank you for helping with homework, and encouraging your children to always do their best!
As always, thank you for all you do for St. Mary Campus, and for your continuing support
of the Calvert Catholic Schools.
Sincerely,
Mary
Jane Holzhauser
REMINDER: Now that the weather is getting cooler, and children are wearing sweaters, fleece jackets, and outerwear,
please remember to put your child's name in these items.
