Michael Bistline currently is the 9-12 instrumental music director at Union High School; where he is responsible for the marching band, jazz band, pep band and concert band.  He is also in charge of the 5^th grade band students at La Porte City Elementary.  Before working in La Porte City, Mr. Bistline was the 5-12 instrumental music director at Jesup Community Schools. 

Mr. Bistline grew up in Carroll, IA and graduated from Carroll High School.  Following high school Mr. Bistline attended Wartburg College, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education Degree with an emphasis in Trumpet in 2000.  He is currently working on a Masters of Music Education/Wind Conducting Degree at Kansas State University.

Mr. Bistline still resides in Jesup with his wife (Jen), two sons Joey (3), Harrison (1) and dog (Katie).  Mr. Bistline also is an active trumpet player in the area.  He plays with the Heartland Brass Quintet and the Waterloo Municipal Band.  He is also the founder and director of the Jesup Community Jazz Band and Concert Band.
