Hello! Nice to meet you. I'm the same old art teacher, but with a new name. In June 2007, I married Colonel
Douglas J. Davis, US Army Special Forces, retired. When I was growing up in the 1960s, I thought the Green Berets who faught
in the Viet Nam Conflict were so strong, brave, and especially handsome in those jaunty green berets. Remember,
that no other Army personnel was allowed to wear a beret back in those days. Berets were only for those members
of the elite special forces: Green Beret... Now I'm married to a retired one!
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Luther College, Decorah, IA, in 1977. "Yea Luther Norse!! " I am currently teaching for the all new Western CUSD #12.
I teach 9-12 art and K-5 art in Barry plus 5th and 6th grade art classes in Kinderhook. I had been teaching K-12
art and middle school language arts in the former Barry CUSD from 1987-2007. Before I came to Barry, I taught art and English for 10 years in Minnesota and Wisconsin. As an artist I prefer to work in colored pencil, watercolor pencil, watercolor and calligraphy. I
don't get as much time as I'd like to do my own work anymore, as teaching well requires so much time and energy.
I was raised in Janesville, WI. I currently live in Pittsfield, IL, My household consists of 7 extremely spoiled rotten housecats, my husband Doug, and my stepdaughter
Crystal. For relaxation I love to travel in the US and abroad (my passport was issued at the U.S. Embassy in London,
as I was pick-pocketed the last time I was there ), I also love to create unusual lattes/mochas and sip them
while enjoying a good book in our extensive home library. Yardwork/gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting/knitting,
going to auctions, visiting with friends, entertaining guests, and shopping keep me busy and out of trouble!
