How sturdy is your finished work?

The sculpture is quite sturdy and well built.  No soft spots, bending areas, etc.

Above average construction.  Could be improved in a spot or two.

There are some weak spots that do not stay in place. It moves when carried.

Could fall apart at any moment.

Finished paper mache surface.

Well done.  Surface is crafted to easily accept paint.

A few minor loose areas. Nothing that detracts from the whole.

Loose flapping areas of paper or cloth.

Possible visible tape and/or raw edges.

Poorly done and looks unfinished.

Expression.

Excellent, a personality has been created.  Care was given in painting features and detail.

Very good, an attempt has been made to give it an interesting expression.

Average, it just sits and stares vacantly. May have eyes, and teeth.

Nothing much attempted

Detail

Unique shape, details of tails, spines wings, etc.  are well done

A few interesting details have been added, but it needs more work.

Average screamer, nothing that sets it apart from the rest.  If wings, tails, etc. were attempted they are poorly constructed or not paper mached

Painting

The artwork was beautifully and patiently done; it was as good as hard work could make it.

With a little more effort the work could have been outstanding; lacks the finishing touches. A few roughly painted areas.

The student showed average craftsmanship; adequate but not as good as it could have been, a bit careless.  Edges are rough and uneven.

The student showed below-average craftsmanship, lack of pride in finished artwork. Below expectations.

Sculptural Qualities

Stands or sits sturdily on its own.

Cannot stand or sit on its own.  No thought was given to how it would be displayed as a finished sculpture.

Effort

The project was continued until it was as complete as the student could make it; gave effort far beyond that required; took pride in going well beyond the requirement.

The student worked hard and completed the project, but with

a little more effort it might have been outstanding

The student finished the project, but could have been improved upon.

The project was completed with minimum effort.
