October's events
Language Arts
As October draws to a close, we are also trying to wrap up the first grading period. This month in reading
we have finished reading "The Breadwinner", a powerful book about the plight of women in Afghanistan. We have also finished
our Me Poems and are wrapping up our power points.
Next month we are going to start reading "The Watson's Go to Birmingham". This will take us all the
way to Christmas, as we are going to do an indepth study of the Civil Rights Movement.
Social Studies
This month we finished our study on Mesopotamia and have started studying Egypt. Our study of Egypt will
take most of the month and will end with the children creating a project, and writing a paper about what they have learned
about Egypt.
