Math Rocks!
Can you
imagine life without math? No system of time…no system of measurement…no
system of money…no numbers…no fun!
What better
way can you see the incredible order of our Incredible God than in the way He has ordered everything according to precise
mathematical calculations, from the number of chromosomes in a living thing to the angle at which the earth is tilted on its
axis, and everything in between?
In flowers
and pinecones, you can find mathematical patterns (Fibonacci sequences). Music
and art rely on mathematical proportions. Math is everywhere – business,
science, grocery shopping, construction – you name it!
Here at LCS, we see math as part of God’s
design and as something we work hard to master as we seek to serve our Master. We
study arithmetic, geometry and algebra, with a little probability and logic thrown in now and then. We use formulas and tables, “shortcuts” and “scribbles.” Not knowing who’ll end up in engineering, nursing, education, masonry or driving a truck, we
study a broad range of mathematical subjects so that each of us is challenged. It’s
all part of our exciting journey of education!
