SHS Choirs Make History at State
Large Group Music Contest
Concert Choir received two perfect scores and a 39
out of 40 for a "I" superior rating. The first time a mixed choir at SHS has earned a perfect score from a judge!
Treble Clef Choir Received a "I" superior rating
for the first time in four years since the group was formed.
Bass Clef Choir received a "II" excellent rating

Day at State Solo/Ensemble Contest!!
On Saturday, April 3, 2004
Solon High School hosted and participated
in the 2Ad State Solo/Ensemble Music Festival. Solon had an exceptional day and
once again raised the bar by receiving six of the seven “Outstanding Performance” Awards. (Each State Adjudicator hears approximately 45 performances in their center throughout the day and presents
the “Outstanding Performance” Award to one performance.) The six
performances that received the “OP” Award are: Chamber Choir A, Junior Mason Bucklin
(Bass Vocal Solo), Junior Channing Connell (Soprano Vocal Solo), Junior Brandon
Elliott (Tenor Vocal Solo), Junior Jacob Muhle (Snare Drum Solo) and Senior Cheryl Poduska
(Clarinet Solo).
In all Solon received 33 Division I Superior
ratings, 34 Division II Excellent ratings, and 5 Division III Good ratings. Vocal
