Middle School Classroom News:
This winter, the middle school students very much enjoyed the presentation by Thomas Ricardi
on the birds of prey. Also, every student earned a field trip that happened in
January. We went to the greenhouses at Smith College in Northampton. It was fascinating seeing the various
plants that grow there, including plants from the rainforest, the desert, and Australia.
The larger language arts class finished reading the non-fiction story, “Lost on a Mountain
in Maine,” and the students are almost finished with
their book reports and critiques. Most have entered the final proofreading phase.
Several of the students finished their weather experiments and presented them to the class. The rest will be scheduled before grades close March 14.
The Social Studies class has been studying the Middle Ages.
The students created shields following the rules of heraldry. They are
very impressive.
We are now happily settled into our new space, and the squirrels have discovered our bird
feeders! As the snow piled up, it was easier and easier for them to access the
seeds. They even climb along the windows peering in on us.
