Vocabulary Monday Activity 
Word of the Week: trivial
Start discussing vocab. for the story and read the
transparency together in class. Use context clues to figure
out the meaning of the vocabulary words. Compare predicted meaning
to actual meaning.
 
Tricky Skill Tuesday Activity:
Discuss skill: word identification strategies
Look at poster in room, sheet to hand out. Cut/glue in journal.
Start on KWL in journal if time.(Do K, W).
 
Hand back test from "The Gardener" and go over in class.
 
Assignment: vocab. w.s. AND get test signed by Thurs.

Meanings of words
10-minute mini-lesson on basic prefixes, suffixes
Glue sheet with prefixes/suffixes and their meanings
 into reading journal to use for reading class.
 
Discuss Word Identification strategies again. Start reading story in class, using some of the strategies we learned. I willmodel, then have students do.
 
Assignment: w.s. on prefixes, suffixes

Discuss events that occurred in story. Start copying them down on w.s. # 30 - 1st column.  Start on 2nd column - writing the effect that each event had on Phoebe.

on tone/volume. Listen to tape for modeling. Practice with partner. Continue rereading with a partner.
