By the end of October, we will read The
Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. As you read this novel, which character will touch your heart? Will you reflect
on your treatment of other individuals?
In the month of January, we will read To Kill A Mockingbird
by Harper Lee. You will experience the growth of Scout and Jem as they mature while dealing with the mystery character
(Boo Radley) in their town, and the deep hatred of racism in the little town of Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930's.
This novel will make you sad, happy, laugh, and maybe cry.
During the months of April and May, we will finish the
year with The Devil's Arithmetic; this book focuses on the Holocaust. We will end the year with Freak the Mighty
by Rodman Philbrick.
So, let's enjoy the experience and reflect on subject matter that
is presented within each novel.
