About Talent Pool
To qualify for the talent pool program, children score at the 90th percentile or above on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills,
have a Cognitive Abilities score of 120 or above, have a teacher recommendation as evidence of task commitment, and their
classroom work demonstrates the need for expanded learning. The elementary strategist works with smaller instructional
groups approximately two times a week for 45 minute sessions. Students work with the strategist in the areas of
math, science, and/or social studies/language arts depending upon the child's strengths, qualifying scores, and interests.
The talent pool is considered to be an extended enrichment pull-out program and does not replace the curriculum in the regular
classroom.
