Ways to expand your learning beyond the classroom.

American Free Enterprise and Leadership Conference It is being held June 15-20 at Rio Grade Campus and is open to all high school students.  Students can earn 2 semesters of college credits in ECON 10302 with tuition, room and board paid by area businesses and the Loren M. Berry Center Endowment.  The only cost to you is $50.  Register with Carol Smith at csmith@rio.edu or call 800-282-7201 ext. 7367.

Ohio University HS Journalism Workshop  This is for students who wish to improve their journalism skills.  It runs July 31 - August 2, 2008.  Register Early - Limited Enrollment.  Go to http://www.scrippsjschool.org/hsjw to register or call Lisa Lopez Snyder at (802) 719-7124.

Pharmacy Summer Camp  The University of Findlay is now offering a Pharmacy Program.  This summer they will hold a summer camp July 15-17 for students interested in exploring the field of Pharmacy.  Go to http://www.findlay.edu to find out more information and to register. 

University of Akron  They are sponsoring a Women in Engineering Program this summer.  Girls in grades 6-8 can attend June 23-27th and High School girls from June 16th-20th.  Only 24 applicants will be accepted.  Go to http://www.ecgf.uakron.edu/wiep.html to register before April 18th.

Ohio Northern University Honors Institute 08 This is for gifted students who will be sophomores or juniors in the fall of 2008-09.  There are 18 in-depth and challenging couses scheduled over a three week period in July.  Courses range from Crime Scene Investigation to Engineering to Entrepreneurship.  Go to http://www.onu.edu/a+s/summerinstitute for more information and to register. 

Pharmacy Summer Camp  The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy is hosting two summer camps for high school students in the class of 2009 who are considering careers in pharmacy.  Dates July 27-July 30 or August 3 - August 6.  Apply online at http://www.utpharmacy.org  DEADLINE:  April 14th.  The cost is $200. Academic 4 Star Camps  Enrichment programs for grades 7-12.  SAT and ACT Prep for grades 10-12.  The program is held at theUniversity of Virginia in Charlottesville.  Go to http://www.4starcamps.com for more information.

Summer Enrichment Programs at WSU  They are offering opportunities to take summer courses in Writer's Palette, Performance theatre, technical Theatre, Forensic Science and Law and Society.  Applications are available in the guidance office or go to http://www.wright.edu/academics/precollege for more information.

University of Dayton Engineering Institute  This is for 10 and 11th graders interested in engineering.  Participants will experience engineering firsthand by exploring each area of engineering, designing and building robots in a week-long project, solving real-world engineering problems and networking with experienced engineers.  The camp will be held July 20-25, 2008 and is open to all high school students who are identified as gifted.  An application is available at http://engineering.udayton.edu/shi/.
