Welcome to 5th grade Social Studies. There are many exciting things that we will be covering this year! Our discovery
will entail the realization as to where Americans came from, how they adjusted to their surroundings, their beliefs, what
trials they faced, how their economy developed, their success in becoming a nation and their growth to be a world power.
In addition, our class will be presenting the new B.A.S.E. (Basic Awareness Safety Education) program. This program
will replace the D.A.R.E. program and will include instruction on internet safety, drug awareness, "stranger danger" awareness,
fire safety, gun safety, etc. B.A.S.E. is sponsored by the Bowie County Sheriff's Office and the instructor will be Deputy
Eugene Swift.
