My name is Cindy Alloway. I have taught language arts at Eagleton Middle School
for 17 years. I am married and have one daughter. I love language arts because of its versatility and also because middle
school students are my favorite!!!
I am a Blount County native, and I attended the University of Tennessee
where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education and Early Childhood Development. I also have a Master's Degree and
an Educational Specialists Degree from Lincoln Memorial University. My family and I enjoy spending time on the lake,
going to car events, and attending Lady Vols games. I am a member of Middle-settlements Methodist Church where I teach
Sunday School to K-2 children.
My classroom is centered around the Four Blocks in-structional
method which focuses on: self-selected reading, guided reading, writing, and working with words. In a diverse classroom, Four Blocks is wonderful because it allows for multilevel instruction which in turn, allows for students' individual needs to be met. During our daily class
time, we will try to incorporate these four modules in some way. WOD ( Word of the Day) and
editing are done on a daily basis. Newspaper activities begin each Monday
and continue throughout the week. We also incorporate novel studies and their study guides
weekly.
I am very excited and eager to meet all the new faces this school year, and
I am looking forward to working with you and your child. Together I feel we can make this year a memorable learning experience.
