Hi, I'm Mr. Gortowski! Here you'll find a world of fascinating facts about me.

I am a new teacher at Lincoln Elementary this 2007-2008 school year, but have been working in education for the past several years. I truly believe that students are capable of anything they set their minds and hearts to! They need only to dream big, work hard and know that they can succeed.

My education:
I graduated from Lincoln-Way High School.
I received a Bachelors of Arts in English from University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana (with a minor in Russian). U of I!
I received a Bachelors of Arts in Computer Science from Purdue University in Fort Wayne, IN. IPFW!
I received my Masters of Arts in Education from Saint Xavier University. SXU!

My work background:
I have worked in many different jobs over the years. I have been a computer programmer, a proofreader, a pizza delivery driver, and a tire salesman. Besides teaching, selling tires was my favorite job by far.

How I spend free time (very limited lately):
Travel (I've been to Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. I dream of visiting Turkey, India, Japan, and Egypt).
Read history, fiction and sociology.
Listen to a variety of music, including Irish, jazz (Miles Davis' Kind of Blue is a favorite), and even James Brown.
Watch movies and play Playstation 2.
