Reading
Silent reading is a daily assignment. The students are required to read 1000 pages a quarter.
The assignment total increases 125 pages per week. When a student finishes a book they fill out a conference form and
turn it into me. I then give them credit for the pages read.
Spelling
The students have spelling every week. The spelling workbook will be due on Wednesday and the
test will be on Friday.
Guided Reading
Sometimes the students may have work to do in guided reading. This is the instructional book
that we read together in class. Most of this work is done in class, but if they do not finish or if they are absent,
they will be required to check out a book and finish on their own.
Writing
Most of our writing is done in class also. Occasionally a student may need to finish something
out of class.
