1. This is an extracurricular activity and therefore requires random drug testing.  If any student on the speech team tests positive, they will be removed from the team for the entire season. I realize this is more stringent than the school rules, but this is my rule as your coach. 

2. All team members are expected to be at all of the meets! We only have six preliminary meets and the coaches (many of them volunteers) spend a great deal of time working with every team member individually. It is very discouraging to work an hour on Friday with someone who does not show up on Saturday!  Please, be dedicated for the good of the team!

3. All team members are expected to coach with someone once a week for a half hour.  Please sign up for times on the Friday before or on Monday.  This is not a huge time committment... it would be nice if you worked even a little more on your own.

4. Remember to start looking for clothes to compete in.  No jeans or tennis shows.  Generally, boys wear a shirt and tie (maybe even a jacket), nice pants, and good black shoes.  These don't have to be expensive.  You can even find them at a thrift store and have them cleaned.  Girls wear nice dresses or pants... some even wear women's suits.  Again, start looking and it won't cost a fortune.
